Coun. Terry Hincks is “pretty confident” that Regina will get funding through the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program, which the city council voted on Friday to apply for. The funding would go towards people who experienced property damage during a recent heavy downpour.

The city’s application covers dates between June 24 and Sept. 6. Since a storm on Sept. 5 drenched much of the city, the city received more than 50 calls about basement flooding — enough for staff to figure the city would qualify for PDAP.
There’s needs to be more than $25,000 damage across the city for it to be eligible, explained Layne Jackson, the city’s deputy chief of public safety, planning and prevention.
