Most everyone, presumably, is familiar with the fable of the tortoise and the hare. If you’re not, here’s an abridged (and slightly) altered version which features a bonus animal — a frog, no less.
I’m still not clear on the connection between that fable and this concert being presented by the Regina Symphony Orchestra on the occasion of local composer David L McIntyre’s (pictured) 60th birthday. Regardless, tonight at 8 p.m. at Westminster United Church McIntyre (who’s an accomplished pianist) will join forces with the RSO Chamber Players to perform a selection of works he’s created over his 30-plus year career. Tix are $20 for RSO subscribers, $25 for non-subscribers.
Also today, noted Regina music aficionado Jeff “Redbeard” Corbett is presenting his “Back to the Grind” showcase at Bushwakker Brew Pub at 1 p.m. Performing will be Tara Dawn Solheim, Cody Gramracy, Belle Plaine, Burns & Maciag and Troy & the Jens.
And tonight at the Exchange local headbangers Orbital Express are playing with Digital Doomsday, The Government and Orange Honey. Doors for this all-ages show are at 7:30 p.m.
