Two quality shows happening in the city tonight, and both are taking place literally next door to each other. At the Club, Winnipeg-based singer-songwriter Greg MacPherson (pictured) is playing a gig in support of his recently released roots rock album Mr. Invitation. I reviewed this CD in the paper a couple of months ago and, if memory serves, gave it 3.5 out of five dogs. I wasn’t able to find any video of MacPherson doing a song off of that album, which was long-listed for the 2010 Polaris Prize, but here’s video from awhile back of MacPherson doing his song “West St. James”.

Next door at the Exchange, the Queen-inspired glam-punk band Scatterheart is playing. To give you a taste, here’s the video for the band’s song “Beautiful” .

Finally, at Conexus Arts Centre Frank Fernandez & Jack Semple perform in honour of arts patrons Jacqui Shumiatcher and Doris Knight. (7 p.m. $59.50).
