This is another one of those time-shift posts where my pick-of-the-day is actually happening tomorrow. Sometimes I do that for convenience’s sake to fill a hole in my p-o-t-d calendar. But not here. The third game of the best of five WMBL championship series between the Regina Red Sox and Swift Current Indians was supposed to be held at Currie Field tonight.

Following the Indians’ 7-1 opening night victory on Wednesday in Speedy Creek, Thursday’s game got rained out. So it’s being held tonight, and game three is scheduled to go tomorrow night at Currie Field.

The Red Sox should benefit from the extra day’s rest. In their semi-final they were pushed to five games by the Moose Jaw Miller Express in a series that only concluded on Monday. In game one, Indians’ pitchers totally buffaloed the previously hot-hitting Red Sox, limiting them to five singles. If that trend continues, the series could be over in three straight. If Red Sox hitters can get to the Indian staff a bit though, then this has the makings of a pretty good series.

Musicwise, we said in our print edition that Sylvie would be at O’Hanlon’s Pub tonight. But there’s been a schedule change. Now, the Calgary punk band the Mad Cowboys are playing with the Colin Decker Free Fall and David J. Taylor.
