For ten years now, Regina Downtown, in combination with several local businesses and organizations, including prairie dog magazine, have presented noon-hour concerts on the Casino Regina Stage on the Scarth St. Mall. The concerts are held pretty much every Thursday from mid-June to late August and feature a mix of local rock, country and pop bands.

Today at noon, there’s a special treat. In Regina for a performance a couple of days ago at a gala celebrating 100 years of African-American settlement in Saskatchewan, Ottawa-based world blues artist Mighty Popo (pictured) is performing. Mighty Popo has appeared in Regina before as part of the Regina Folk Festival. To give you a taste, here’s video of Mighty Popo performing at the 2008 Ottawa Blues Festival.

Tonight, Saskatchewan singer-songwriter Farideh is performing as part of  Rickards Live at Rock Creek. The show should start around 9 p.m.
