Stephen Harper’s bleating aside, (Toronto Star) there’s a big part of me that thinks that much of the violence in Toronto surrounding the G8/G20 meetings (Globe and Mail) is actually provoked by the police presence, if not set off by agent provocateurs — police who have infiltrated the demonstrators and done stuff to give the cops an excuse to use all that handy-dandy riot gear that just happened to have lying around ….
After all, if you spend a billion dollars in security stuff, it would be a shame if you didn’t get a chance to use it.
