Nature doesn’t have a patch on us. That’s not news to anyone who is even half paying attention to what we’ve done to ourselves and to our fellow creatures over the last few hundred years.

Still, it’s always surprising to see numbers attached to some of our more brutal campaigns, like the recent bounty on coyotes in the province. Hunters and farmers killed 71,000 coyotes, the government paid out $1.5 million, and the program was declared wildly successful.
