For some time now Regina artist Ryan Arnott has been organizing thoughtful little shows in the dining room of the University Club (Rm. 215, College West Building.)

Until May 28, an exhibition of his own work is on display. It’s a selection of small paintings and drawings on paper formated to resemble the cover of an actual  British women’s magazine.

Using pop culture images from advertising and comics, says the press release,  Arnott explores issues related to desire and gender.

The above work, for instance, is titled “Eve”. With a Christian background, Arnott is presumably keen to critique the role of temptress traditionally assigned to women in the Bible, while other aspects of the image reference more contemporary conventions of female fashion.

The University Club is open Monday to Thursday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m.-7 p.m.
