Yeah, we definitely screwed this one up. I even listed it in my top-six in the 14-days section of our April 22 print issue. I haven’t delved too deeply into it, but I’m pretty sure at some point I must have stumbled across a mention of the gig on a reputable website of some sort and listed it. And after that, my intense happiness at the prospect of the gig occuring (because the Sadies definitely rock) prevented me from processing and acting on any info to the contrary (ie that there was no freaking gig) that I may later have been presented with .
Fortunately, I have a more than satisfactory bordering on stellar in its own right pick-of-the-day in the form of a movie that’s out called The Last Song. I haven’t actually seen it yet, but I know from reading Shane’s blurb in our April 22 issue that it stars Miley Cyrus and … what? Yeah, I know he describes it as a “crappy romantic drama”. But what does Shane know, right?
Okay, in this instance he’s probably bang-on. So if you’re looking for something to do today, I’m not recommending this movie. I mean, go if you want. I don’t care. But there are other things to do.
From 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., for example, there’s the second outdoor Farmers’ Market at City Hall. Over the lunch hour comic Mike Bullard is entertaining at a CNIB fundraiser at the casino, while tonight Ron White brings Behaviourial Problems tour to Conexus Arts Centre. Finally, folksters Fish & Bird (pictured) are at Bushwakker at 9 p.m.
And for kicks, here’s the trailer to The Last Song (YouTube)
