Got a press release from City Hall today saying that on Wednesday (May 12) there’ll be an official kick-off to the downtown revitalization initiative. This follows the passage of the Downtown Neighbourhood Plan that Office for Urbanism developed after several years of consultation with Regina businesses, community groups and citizens.

The kick-off will include a media briefing by Mayor Pat Fiacco to discuss improvements that are planned for 2010 (principally, the transformation of Victoria Park into City Square, and the conversion of 11th and 12th Ave into two-way streets). That will be followed by an official public launch in front of City Hall at 11:30 a.m., after which volunteers will spread out through the downtown with brochures to distribute to people over the lunch hour.

Should be fun.
