Opening tonight at New Dance Horizons (2207 Harvey St.) is Rouge-Gorge. Featured are two contemporary dance works performed by Regina dancers. It’s on April 15-17 at 8 p.m., and April 18 at 2 p.m. I’ll have more on it tomorrow.
Tonight, I decided to feature The Good Lovlies. They’re playing the Exchange, and are definitely worth checking out. Describing themselves as “flirty-bluegrass” and “the mischievous Andrews Sisters”, the Toronto-based trio will never be mistaken for the Runaways.
If you’re a teenage boy, or some party lout in your twenties or early thirties, that’s probably a bad thing. But for guys who have managed to mature a bit — yeah, I know they’re few and far between, but they are out there — the Good Lovelies (who are consist of Caroline Brooks, Kerri Ough and Sue Passmore) have it going on.
Here’s the video for their song “Lie Down“. (YouTube).
Next door at the Club there’s a decent gig too, with Rodney DeCroo & Spoon River playing.
Addendum: There’s been a switch in the New Dance Horizon’s schedule. The Rouge-gorge performance is only going to be held tomorrow and Saturday night, and not tonight and Sunday afternoon. I’ll have more details in a post tomorrow.
