Happy Earth Day everyone. If you’re looking to show solidarity with fellow Reginans who are concerned about the deteriorating state of the environment several events are being held in the city in the next few days.

Tonight at the Royal Sask Museum at 7:30 p.m., a Seeds for Sustainability concert is being held featuring Glenn Sutter and Brett Dolter. Tix are $15, with proceeds in support of the North Regina Community Garden.  April 23 at 7 p.m. at the Royal Sask Museum, the 4th Annual Environmental Film Festival and Awards are being held. Films being screened include The Story of Stuff, The Story of Cap and Trade and The Story of Bottled Water.

Saturday at 9 a.m. Nature Regina is hosting a Wascana Marsh Walk to explore Goosehill Park and Faraway Place. The walk will start at Saskatchewan Science Centre parking lot. For more info, call 949-2505. Then at 7 p.m. at the Royal Sask Museum, there’s the second installment in the Environmental Film Festival. Films being screened include Refugees of the Blue Planet and Taking Back Control of Our Food.  Also, April 24-25 the Saskatchewan Science Centre is hosting a display on Future Energy sponsored by the Regina Model Engineering Group that will include presentations on solar power, electric vehicles and biofuels.

Finally, between 1-4 p.m. on April 25 at the Royal Sask Museum, a family-friendly Earth Day celebration is being held.

Shifting back to today, at noon at Conexus Arts Centre the Canadian Bar Association (Saskatchewan Branch) is hosting a Law Day luncheon with guest speaker Alan Borovoy who will discuss Recurring Threats to Civil Liberties. Tix are $35. For more info call 347-8390.

Tonight at the Drink Nightclub, Portland, Oregon-based rockers Everclear are playing. Or, more accurately, Art Alexakis, with a bunch of other musicians filling in for former bandmates who are no longer with Everclear, will be performing. The band’s roots go back to 1992. But apparently there’s a bit of a ’90s revival going on these days (witness Hole’s appearance at the recent SXSW conference in Austin) so the gig will probably attract a decent crowd.

At the Exchange, two bands from Moose Jaw (Brain Sauce and Lords Kitchner) are playing with Vancouver band Redrick Sultan. Finally, at O’Hanlon’s Pub SheKillsMe is playing with Hours backing them up.
