20 Feet From Stardom

Directed by Morgan Neville, this 2013 U.S. documentary takes a behind the scenes look at a sub-class of performers who can add so much to a recording or concert, but who labour largely in obscurity. That would be back-up singers.

20 Feet From Stardom includes a mix of archival footage and interviews with a number of famous musicians like Mick Jagger, Sheryl Crow and Bruce Springsteen on the role of back-up singers, and also offers some of those singers a chance to tell their own stories. The doc screens tonight and Sunday at 9 p.m. and Saturday at 7 p.m.

Greg Beatty is a crime-fighting shapeshifter who hatched from a mutagenic egg many decades ago. He likes sunny days, puppies and antique shoes. His favourite colour is not visible to your inferior human eyes. He refuses to write a bio for this website and if that means Whitworth writes one for him, so be it.
